Weddings

Only a few weddings a year, so yours gets a whole week.

I only take a handful of weddings a year, so each one gets the time it needs. It starts with a tasting at my table, it gets drawn before it gets baked, and I set it up at the venue myself.

How it goes

Three steps, and the first one is cake.

First

A tasting at my table

You come and eat cake. Six flavors, eight fillings, and you choose between things you have actually tasted instead of a list of words. Bring whoever's paying and whoever has opinions.

Then

We settle it before I bake it

Tiers, piping, color, what it says. Send me pictures of anything you have seen and liked — I do not sketch, but a photograph tells me more than a drawing would, and changing your mind at this stage is free and much easier than changing a cake.

On the day

I bring it and I set it up

I stack and finish it at the venue myself. A tiered cake that travels assembled arrives leaning, and I am not sending you a leaning cake on your wedding day.

The work itself

This is the piping you'd be getting.

These are celebration cakes, not weddings — I'm still building my wedding portfolio, and I'd rather show you real work of mine than somebody else's tiers. The piping, the pearls and the lettering are exactly what goes on a wedding cake.

What couples ask

Get in touch early — I need three or four weeks in April, May and December, and spring goes first.

How much notice do you need?

About two weeks for a cake, and three or four in April, May and December because those fill up first. Cookies I can usually turn around faster. If your date's tight, ask anyway — sometimes I can move something.

Do you deliver, or do I pick up?

Most orders get picked up from my kitchen here in Miamisburg. I'll deliver locally — Springboro, Centerville, West Carrollton, Kettering, Moraine, Dayton — for a small fee, and I set up wedding cakes myself so nothing arrives leaning.

Do you do wedding cakes?

Yes, and we start with a tasting at my table so you're choosing between flavors you've actually eaten. Get in touch early — I only take a handful a year, so each one gets the week it needs.

Come taste it first.

No charge, no pressure, and you get to eat six kinds of cake at my kitchen table.
